More than 8 million Londoners will be told to wear face coverings if they want to travel on the capital's transport network from July 19.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has asked Transport for London to make face coverings compulsory on all its services after legal restrictions are lifted unless people are exempt.
The Mirror has been told the transport body backs the plan - paving the way for mandatory face masks on the Tube, TfL trains, buses and taxis across the capital.
Boris Johnson has urged the English public to continue covering their faces in "crowded and enclosed spaces" after his 'big bang' unlocking.
